Academic emergency medicine physician with interests in health policy and health services research. I am currently in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
My health policy interests include value-based delivery system reforms; quality improvement and practice standardization in emergency medicine; developing tools to shape physician practice patterns in regard to high- and low-value care; reducing inappropriate use of and accidental overdose from prescription opioids; payment system reforms including hospital readmission policies; the impact of insurance reform and high deductible health plans on patient behavior; and implementation of shared decision-making programs in acute care.
