The mission of the the Sports Medicine Interest Group is to improve the orthopedic curriculum within emergency medicine training programs and to increase emergency physician awareness of practice opportunities within the fields of emergency medicine and sports medicine. Medical students, residents and attending physicians are welcome to join.
The goals of the Sports Medicine Interest Group are to:
- Enhance the virtual mentoring program, in conjunction with ACEP, aimed at matching interested students with practicing EM/sports medicine physicians to bolster the EM physician presence in the field of sports medicine.
- Increase collaboration between EM/sports medicine physicians to facilitate emergency department-based sports medicine scholarly projects.
- Created and compile sports medicine lectures and make these available to EM residency programs.
- Develop a sample longitudinal sports medicine curriculum for residents interested in a career in sports medicine.
