SAEM seeks nominations for the Excellence in Research Award. Complementary to the Hal Jayne Education Award, and as the second pillar of SAEM, this prestigious award is presented to a member of SAEM who has made outstanding contributions to emergency medicine through the creation and sharing of new knowledge. The Awards Committee wishes to consider as many exceptional candidates as possible.
The Excellence in Research Award is presented during the SAEM Annual Meeting. Previous awardees (including any Hal Jayne awardees prior to 2009) are ineligible. Candidates can be nominated by any SAEM member and are evaluated by the Awards Committee on their accomplishments in knowledge creation, including: 1. Research Accomplishments a. Impact of discovery b. Original research in peer-reviewed journals. c. Research support generated through grants and contracts (federal, foundation and industry). d. Other publications (e.g., review articles, book chapters, editorials) e. Peer-reviewed research presentations (lecture, abstract, panel) f. Training of investigators 2. Recognition a. Peer review journal positions b. Grant review panel membership. c. Local, regional and national organizational service relating to research. d. National and international speaking invitations. e Recognition or awards by students, residents, or peers 3. Honors and awards

While not mandatory, a maximum of two (2) additional support letters may be forwarded, each with a two (2) page limit. All nominations must be submitted electronically to miniguez@saem.org.
