After more than 25 years serving in a variety of roles with medical associations and their foundations, I feel fortunate to have found a home as part of the hard-working SAEM and SAEM Foundation team. I am honored to play a small role in the work of our frontline providers who provide essential care to so many by raising funds to support the specialty's future.
On a personal level, I have a connection to this mission. My mother suffered a massive bleed from a brain aneurysm in 1988. At a time when she was in critical need of lifesaving care, she received it from well-trained, quick to diagnose experts in an ED. If it were not for that amazing EM team, she would not be with us right now. Each day, I am energized by all that our SAEM members do, and the expert care they provide, just like that team did for my own mom. Even more so, I am so impressed by the mentors and leaders in this specialty and how they are paying it forward to the next generation. This is what inspires me to find ways to encourage more support for research and education.
Please reach out if I can assist with questions about the SAEM Foundation or how you can become more involved in funding the specialty's future through a gift to the SAEM Foundation!
